In the Varasky district the pyrotechnics of the Main Administration of the State Emergency Service destroyed three hand grenades from times of the First World War.
On April 30, at 11:40 am, a group of pyrotechnics of the special rescue unit of the Main Administration of the regional State Emergency Service destroyed three hand grenades (one RG-12 and two RG-14) from times of the First World War.
These ammunitions were found the day before by a local resident during excavation works near the village of Bilska Volya in the Varas district.
Despite the fact that the rusty hand grenades were more than 100 years old, they were in combat condition. In case of unauthorized detonation, the radius of destruction would have reached more than 50 meters.
Rescuers of Rivne region urge citizens to be careful. If you find suspicious metal objects that look like wartime ammunition, immediately inform rescuers using the special line “101” or “112”.
For reference: since the beginning of 2022, Rivne de-mining experts have destroyed 117 different explosive devices from the First and Second World Wars.
